      The brain is one of the most complex structures in the world. It contains billions of cells, all of which work together constantly to make a person who they are.

      It’s a powerful organic supercomputer that has allowed mankind to skyrocket above all over species and dominate the planet, while also giving us the ability to communicate with complex language, understand mathematics, and create consistently more advanced technology.

      A huge portion of our daily calories are sent to the brain, and it’s important to try and only feed the brain healthy foods as much as possible to ensure that it’s working at its best. Here we will look at methods you can employ to give your brain everything it needs.

      Feed It Well

      Of course, one of the most important elements of good brain health is a good diet that focuses on whole foods as much as possible. The brain needs access to carbohydrates and fats, but they both need to be eaten in whole form.

      Nuts, for example, are excellent brain food, consisting of much healthier fats that you would find in something like oil. In terms of carbs, refined carbs should be avoided as much as possible, and you should rather focus on consuming complex carbs if possible, such as those found in sweet potatoes and other vegetables.

      Exercise Is Vital

      There are many benefits to exercising, and it’s something that most health experts advise everyone to do at least three times a week. Those that tend to exercise a lot also generally have better cognitive ability, including improved memory retention, better problem-solving skills, and an easier time concentrating on a subject.

      Even just going for a short walk twice a day can help the brain, especially when combined with the health benefits of getting plenty of sunshine on a regular basis.

      Quality Sleep

      There has been countless research done on the importance of quality sleep. Sleep is when the brain shuts down and toxins and other chemicals that build up are scrubbed away in a process of repair and cleaning.

      Without sleep, the brain has a difficult time retaining memories, concentration levels fall, and the person might begin to feel depressive symptoms. Sleep is essential for good brain health, so you should try and sleep for at least 7 hours every night without any interruptions.

      Take On Challenges

      Much like a muscle, the brain can only get better when its exercised whenever possible. Sitting in front of the television for hours at a time is not healthy for our minds and can lead to problems down the line.

      At its most fundamental level, the brain is a brilliant problem solver, so giving it problems to solve means that its always “exercising” rather than sitting stagnant. This can involve taking up a new hobby like checking out the latest guides, reading a book, or even playing some video games. Whatever it is, a key to a strong and healthy mind is always giving it something to do.
